Love is patient…

Wow, its been a while! Honestly totally forgot about this thing! Sometimes you get so moved by things you just want to write about them, and then I remembered thats what I have a blog for! Well here it goes…

Love is patient… Many people know the next few words or even sentences that follow those three words. I was reading 1 Corinthians 13 tonight and it hit me. Out of all the descriptions God gives for love, this is His first one. Love is patient. It is so true when you stop and think about it. How patient has he been with me? How many times have I turned from him? How many times do we ignore his calling or choose our own desires? And how many times has He been right there waiting for us to return home? The idea of His patience is too much for me to contemplate for too long. Christ is the example of Love. He gave his life for me! For us! God doesn’t stop there, not only did He send Christ to die for us, but he then continues to forgive and forgive, and forgive some more. This all stems to the unbelievable grace we have been given.

Patience…We are called to do this, just as Christ is with us. How can we ever get impatient with God, the Israelites are a perfect example of this. After being saved from Egypt, they get impatient on their way to the promised land and start rebuking God. The God who saved them from bondage. God has saved us from bondage, how dare we get impatient with him. This is all too familiar to me.

Maybe there is a reason patience is at the top of the list. Our love towards each other should be patient, but more importantly we should love the Lord with patience, knowing that his way will be done! Patience, its more than a word: its why we are here. God doesn’t give up on us. Don’t give up on Him….so think patience.

“Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.”
